Georgia: Still no UIDDA

by Rebecca on May 19, 2010

Georgia's Gold DomeGeorgia’s legislative session ended without HB 917 being adopted. Although it passed the Senate Judiciary Committee, no further action was taken. The State Bar of Georgia supported this bill, and its legislative update (no longer available online) simply noted that the bill did not make it on the calendar for Senate action.

The last version of the bill proposed adopting the Uniform Interstate Depositions and Discovery Act (UIDDA), as well as a modified version of the Uniform Foreign Depositions Act (UFDA).

If it is re-introduced next legislative session, I’ll post about it. In the meantime, Georgia still follows the Uniform Foreign Depositions Act, found in O.C.G.A. §§ 24-10-110 to -112.

Do you have more questions about out-of-state subpoenas? Contact me if I can help you obtain documents or testimony in Georgia.

Update: Although it was introduced in 2011, the UIDDA did not pass. See my post UFDA remains in effect in Georgia.
